Anthropic just dropped Fable 5.1

Pete Cooper runs through Anthropic's Fable 5.1 release and how he says it relates to the earlier Mythos model. He covers his claims about benchmarks, unattended running and lower running costs.

Video summary

Pete Cooper describes Anthropic's Fable 5.1 as the Mythos capability wrapped in safeguards. In his account, Mythos came out the month before but went only to a few large companies such as Amazon and Microsoft, because it was too powerful to release generally. Fable 5.1, he says, puts that capability within reach of everyone else.

He says the model beats the benchmarks, including the latest from ChatGPT, and can run unattended to hunt down problems. His example is a company he names as Millennium, which he says ran Fable 5.1 on its systems and traced a crash that had eluded its engineers for years.

The part he thinks gets too little attention is cost. He says it costs no more to run and puts the possible saving at up to 45%. These are his claims from the clip, not independently checked figures.

Every lab says they've got the best and latest model. Anthropic just released Fable 5. 1 and it set some new standards. Fable is what Mythos was with some safeguards. Now, last month Mythos came out and was only released to a select few big companies like Amazon and Microsoft and for the rest of us we couldn't get access to it. Mythos was so powerful that they couldn't release it generally. Now, with Fable 5. 1 they've wrapped the Mythos capability with some safeguards. So, we're able to get the power of Mythos in an accessible form. Now, this has beaten the benchmarks. It's beating ChatGPT's latest. The benchmarks aren't the only issue. It's also able to run unattended.

It can hunt and search out problems. So, a company called Millennium ran Fable 5. 1 on their systems and it traced a crash which had been alluding engineers for years. That's not all. In fact, what most people don't know and what's really not been talked much about is the costs. It's not costing any more to run this. And what they've done is they've cut the cash reads so that it can run at substantially less costs. In fact, up to 45% less. If you want to know more about what's happening, follow me and I'll cut through so you don't have to. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.
